Srinagar: The 10-day summer session of the Legislative Assembly is likely to commence from Aug 25, official sources said on Monday.
They said this would be the last assembly session of the present NC-Congress coalition as election notification for the forthcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir would be issued on September 15.
The law minister Mir Saif-ullah while talking to a local news agency said: The proposal for holding the summer session of the legislative assembly has been sent to the government and if the approval is granted, the session will start on August 25 and will end onSeptember 5.
Sources said that during the coming session, the government would strive to highlight the measures taken by it during the past five and a half years and would also apprise the house about the achievements of the coalition government.
On the other hand opposition has also geared up to assail the state government over what it terms as anti people measures of the present dispensation.
Several meetings of the opposition parties have taken place to corner the government and not to allow it to highlight any of the steps that it claims have been pro-people, sources informed.
