Rajouri: Three siblings died while another was injured when flash floods hit Kotli Kala Ban Manjakote area in Rajouri district, officials said on Tuesday.
The Superintendent of Police Rajouri Mubasir Lateefi said, Four brothers were crossing a nallah along with some goods when flash flood washed them away. Three among them lost their lives while the fourth one was rescued and shifted to District Hospital Rajouri.
He identified the slain brothers as Alam Hussain, 55, Muhammad Rangzeib, 35, and Muhammad Javid, 25, sons of Gulzar Hussain Mughal.
He said the victims had crossed a nallah to unload a truck carrying goods for Muhammad Rangzeib who was a dealer by profession.
After unloading the truck, the brothers lifted the goods and left for their home. It was raining and while crossing the nallah, the flash flood washed them away. One of them Farooq Alam was rescued and shifted to hospital while the bodies of the three siblings were recovered after night long rescue operation at around 11 in the morning, the SP Rajouri said adding that one among the deceased was a government employee.
The incident according to reports occurred on Monday evening while police and civil administration officials reached on spot after the news about the drowning spread in the area. Locals helped police and Army in rescue operation which continued till late hours.
Reports said that due to continuous rain, the operation was called off at around 2 am in the morning while it was again resumed at 6 am. All the three bodies were retrieved from the nallah this morning.
