New Delhi: Defence Minister Tuesday revealed that forty-nine Army soldiers have been killed in different militancy related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir during the past three years.
In a written reply to a query in Rajya Sabha, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley said that from past three years, India lost 49 Army personnel in counter insurgency and infiltration operations in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Pertinently, during the current year from January till date, 19 Army personnel, 2 BSF Jawans and 9 local policemen have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir while during the same period 52 militants died in different parts of the State.
The number of civilians killed during the current year is 21. The total number of killings that occurred in different militancy related incidents in the current year has reached up to 103.
