SRINAGAR: Unknown persons attacked a policeman with an axe in north Kashmirs Pattan town and decamped with his service riffle, police said.

Ghulam Hassan Bhat while talking to a local news gathering agency said: Unknown person attacked a policeman, Firdous Ahmed Baba with an axe at Pattan town and decamped with his service riffle. We are ascertaining whether it was a militant attack or not.
Officials said Baba, a constable with the Indian Reserve
With was hit with an axe in his head and neck and he received critical injuries. He was later shifted to the hospital where his condition remained critical till the last reports came in. Later, forces cordoned the area and launched a massive manhunt to track the assailants.
