SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani has called for the peaceful protest after Friday prayers on August 1, and a complete shutdown on August 2, against governments move to make Kousar Naag another Yatra Destination.
Geelani in a media interview accused government of facilitating revival of old Hindu civilization in Kashmir by creating new destinations for holy pilgrimage.
The Hurriyat G chairman added that former Governor Jagmohan has explicitly written in his book about Kashmir being the prime location of Hindu civilization. The authorities now want to occupy our land by creating such destinations and thereby constituting new Shrine Boards at different places, Geelani observed.
He said that his faction of Hurriyat Conference will make people aware about designs behind such Yatras very soon. Terming the decision of declaring the Kousar Naag a new Yatra destination, as destructive for the fragile environment and water resources of the Kashmir, chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference Sayed Ali Geelani called for peaceful protest demonstration after the Friday prayers on 1 august and complete shutdown on 2 August, Saturday against this announcement of the government.
He said that this is actually a political decision made under the pressure of the communal minded people and its only purpose is the cultural aggression on Kashmir.
Condemning the imposition of curfew in Kulgam area Geelani termed the use of violent force on the common people as the act of state terrorism.
Hurriyat leader said that the communal forces of India were hell-bent upon to disturb the peace in Kashmir and through the cultural aggression, they want to eliminate the environment, identity, culture and values of the state and want to forcibly setup their own culture here.
The state government is playing extremely criminal role regarding this issue and instead of raising their voices against this aggression, they are extending their co-operation in every possible way, he said, adding Omer Abdullah was only concerned with his chair and he doesnt care about the adversaries and negative effects of this decision in haste.
Geelani said that the Kousar Naag is a very important source of drinking water for millions of people, located at a very high altitude and it is also the only source for irrigation of lakhs of acers of agriculture land. The presence of the large number of people at this location will not only endanger this important source of water but it can prove dangerous and destructive for the fragile environment of the region.
Geelani stated that the people of Kashmir were not against the Hinduism or their religious belief but the making of the Kousar Naag a new Yatra destination is actually a political decision and not a religious one and its only purpose is to harm the just freedom struggle of Kashmir and to sabotage the wishes and aspirations of the local population.
With these types of activities the mad communal minded people want to give a new impression to the Indian people that Kashmir is the religious issue for them instead of a political issue, so it is necessary for them to continue the forced occupation of Kashmir, Geelani said.
Geelani said that the new government in Delhi is following the foot prints of their fast friend Israel in letter and spirit and they are planning to make the new Gaza in Kashmir.
They want to make the Kashmiris as strangers in their own land and they have begun to act on those aggressive and oppressive policies, Hurriyat chairman said.
