JAMMU: Eight people were injured after communal clashes broke out in between two groups Phoond village of Kathua on Monday after alleged animal slaughter by members of one community.
The two groups resorted to stone pelting and many shops were set ablaze.
The DC and DIG have reached the spot where the lashed broke out and section 144 has been imposed in the area. An Army has also been called in.
A senior police officer said in Jammu that heavy police force was deployed after clashes erupted.
Five shops were torched after the clashes.
Senior police and civil administration officials have rushed to the village, 130 km from Jammu, to restore calm.
