SRINAGAR: A policeman who was seriously injured Friday evening after shot at by suspected militants at Bijbehara area of south Kashmirs Anantnag district, succumbed to injuries here in SMHS hospital, Srinagar.
A police official said that constable Mohammad Altaf (belt no. 935/A) was fired upon from suspected militants at Goriwan while he was performing his duty today evening.
Mohammad Altaf, a resident of Ganderpora area of Eidgah in Srinagar sustained a bullet wound and was immediately shifted to SMHS hospital where he later succumbed to injuries.
Soon after the attack, SOG, police, army and CRPF cordoned off the whole area and launched searches to nab the attackers.
