The Israeli offensive in Gaza has already claimed more than 600 innocent Palestinian lives. The dead include men, women and children, both young and old. The Israeli barbarity has not even spared toddlers. With the world community becoming a mute spectator to the naked Israeli aggression and with Israeli ground troops already inside Gaza, it seems there is no immediate end to this continued unprovoked aggression from Israel.
The pretext to this latest round of aggression by Israel was the death of three Israeli teenagers. Israel blamed Hamas for the killing, but did not bother to provide any substantive proof for their claim. But as usual, the West and its media always treat the Israeli claims as Gospel truth. So Israel had a perfect excuse to attack Gaza. The impotent missile fire by Hamas was also used a pretext by Israel to unleash a reign of terror against Gaza. For any neutral observer, Israels actions have been uncalled for. But then Israel has a godfather like US which always looks the other way when Israel is committing this barbarism. Let us miss the context here: Gaza is under Israeli occupation and the Palestinians have every moral right to fight that occupation. Israel is the aggressor and not the victim, as they and their patrons would like everyone to believe.
What has been heart-warming this time around is that protests were taken out in many major cities across the world denouncing the Israeli actions and calling for an immediate halt to military actions in Gaza. Some protests were carried out in the US by the Jews as well. But among all this outrage, the Arab States, most notably Saudi Arabia have been conspicuous by their criminal silence. Palestine dispute has been historically seen as an Arab problem. The Arabs have gone to war with Israel, a few times over this dispute. But it seems the Arab States are so much busy in instigating and backing sectarian strife across the Muslim countries, that Palestinian issue no longer matters to them. No one would have expected the Arab countries and their toothless organisations like OIC and Arab League to make any meaningful contribution in settling this dispute, but the most pessimist people would have at least expected a token condemnation from them. That the Arabs have been a mute spectator to the Israeli aggression in their neighborhood makes it amply clear that these countries have cut sweet deals with Israel. The Arab countries have historically proved to be US client states and are heavily dependent on the US for defence and technology.
Gaza is a small strip of land which is blocked from everywhere by Israel. It is an open air prison where Israel is playing macabre violence and the world is watching as mute spectators. Arabs need to realize that their monarchies are evil and clandestinely support Israel in its genocide in Palestine. The criminal silence of the Saudi monarch is a shame given that he loves to being addressed as the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. It seems only a miracle can awaken the The Arab conscience.
