SRINAGAR: Unlike Kashmir conflict that has thrown up an assortment of narratives, the fresh war in Palestine is seeing chronically divided Kashmiris rallying around a joint cause: SAVE GAZA.
Kashmir has witnessed a fortnight of unrest with a boy dropped dead for protesting against Israeli aggression. Now, people from almost all walks of life and ideological positions have decided to observe last Friday of Ramazan, 25 July 2014, as Yom-al-Quds or Quds Day (Quds is the Arabic name for Jerusalem).
The call to rally for Gaza on Yom-al-Quds has been made by almost all separatist groups, employees, militant leaders and the fastest growing online Kashmiri voices.
Syed Ali Geelani, Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G), has gone to the extent of calling Jihad against Israel. “Fighting a holy war against Israel is every Muslim’s duty. We are keen to go to Palestine and help them, but we are trapped, resourceless,” the 85-year-old leader said in a recent statement.
Meanwhile, top militant leader Syed Salahudin who is currently based at Pakistani side of Kashmir, said on Wednesday that the delay in resolving Palestinian conflict has vindicated the fact that “there is only one solution (to Palestinian conflict) and that is Jihad.”
“Israel has broken Adolf Hitlers record in perpetrating worst human rights violations in Gaza,” said a statement quoting Salahudin who is also heading the largest militant coalition United Jihad Council, based at Muzaffarabad. “The worst part in this whole scenario is that the Muslim World has maintained a criminal silence because of its coward leadership and materialistic lifestyle. Otherwise, we have 57 Muslim countries, OIC and the Arab League having their own armies but the leaders in these countries are cowards and immersed in their mundane affairs. It proves beyond any doubt that there is only one solution to Israeli aggression and that is the Jihad.” Salahudin also accused the UN of maintaining double standards and threatened, “If the UN fails in its responsibility then Muslim youth across the world will volunteer for Jihad.”
Meanwhile Doctors Association Kashmir Wednesday declared that it will observe coming Friday as “Back Day” against the Israeli onslaught on Palestinians.
President of DAK, Dr Nisar-ul-Hasan while expressing deep anguish over the pitiable condition of Palestinian people said that Israelis indiscriminate killing of defenseless civilians in Gaza is utter disregard to humanity.
There is full blown humanitarian crisis in Gaza as people are without food, water, electricity and medical supplies. Israel has held 1.8 million Gazans as hostages and is bombarding them from air, sea and land.
Israeli military targeted 18 Medical Centers including Al Aqsa Hospital in Gaza killing patients and medics which is blatant violation of International Humanitarian Law, DAK said adding that Prime Minister of Israel in presence of UN Secretary General on Tuesday said that Israel will do what it has to do which is land theft and ethnic cleansing.
Israel under a deep conspiracy has entangled the Middle East in Sectarian Clashes and regional conflicts so that it can uninterruptedly wipe out Palestinians.
Government employees too have chipped in with their protesting noise. Employees Joint Action Committee EJAC has called for a black Friday on July 25th as a mark of protest against the Israeli aggression in Gaza Strip.
In a press statement on Wednesday, EJAC president Abdul Qayoom Wani said that targeting hospitals, mosques and innocent civilians in Gaza was a ‘barbaric’ act and warranted condemnation. He expressed anguish over, what he said, the ambiguous silence of OIC and UN over the crises.
