SRINAGAR: To impress upon the state government to release all political prisoners and shift all the detenues from outside state jails to Kashmir, pro-freedom organization Womens Democratic Forum Tuesday staged a protest in Press Enclave Srinagar.
The protest was led by party chairperson Tanveer Fatima. Police foiled the attempt of women protestors who were carrying banners and placards when they tried to proceed towards city centre Lal Chowk.
Speaking on the occasion, WDF chairperson Tanveer Fatima while denouncing the double standard policy of government of India said that Kashmirs whose cases are pending in Kashmir Courts have been shifted to outside state jails under a well-planned anti-Kashmir policy. She demanded that the cases of 44 detainees including Dr Muhammad Qasim, Ghulam Qadir Bhat, Muhammad Shafi Sheryati, Muhammad Amin Dar Banihal, Mohammad Ayoub Dar, Engineer Farooq, Muhammad Amin Wani, Mohammad Ayoub Mir,Sharief-ud-Din Reasi,Mohammad Syed Bhat, Peer Fayaz and Abdul Waheed Naik Banihal should be relooked on humanitarian grounds and they should be freed.
Meanwhile a similar type of protest was organized by Hurriyat Conference JK that was led by party leader Muhammad Yousuf Naqash.
Scores of HCJK activists assembled in Press Enclave Srinagar and demanded release of political prisoners including Dr Muhammad Qasim Faktoo, Masrat Alam, Mushtaq-ul-Islam and others before Id-ul-Fitar.(CNS)
