SRINAGAR: Even as seven deaths in a truck crash at Srinagar caused tensions, eight persons including two policemen died when a cab plunged into Chenab river in Kishtwar, Southeastern district of Kashmir. Police and witnesses said the driver lost control on his cab and skidded off the road near Pingradi Dachan in Kishtwar. The cab(JK-14 8968) according to police was driven by one Ghulam Hussain resident of Pati Mahal.
Police sources said that the deceased were traveling in a cab from Dangdooro to Kishtwar. The two passengers rescued by police were shifted to hospital in critical condition.
Police identified the dead as Vidya Lal son of Dasa Ram resident of jantakpora Dhan, Ghulam Rasool son of Habib Shah of Patamhala Kishtwar, Constable Mangat Ram son of Narayan Ram Assistant Sub-Inspector Mushtaq Ahmed son of Muhammad Maqbool both residents of Harl Madwa, Nathu Rani daughter of Raj Kumar, Krishna Devi wife of Narayn Das, Sachin Kumar son of Yashpal all residents of Kulnu Dchan, Parvez Ahmed son of Ghulam Rasool resident of Dandowar. The two injured have been identified as Abdul Hamid son of Muhammad Ramzan resident of Panchrari and Saira Devi wife of Rakesh Kumar of Panzpora Dachan.
