Politics is a tricky game, there is no such thing as peace, there is an absence of war – or so they claim.
Lying on the other side of the spectrum are the believers of eternal utopia, those who see politics as comfortable or even a possible calm. Lying in the midst of the current situation is a disputed territory. This territory is only brought up when attention is needed or merited in order to distract from other news which might potentially threaten the security of the current ruling party or even ruling hegemony.
Such territories lie across the world, from Kashmir to Burma. However, the rights and voices of the people are not just dulled they are obviously ignored. How many people know what is happening in the world today? We live in a state of perpetual intelligence, Big Brother now not only watches us, but so many have given him authority to control.
Is this what journalism serves? The purpose of journalism is pull down this veil and speak the truth, or in this case observe.
