Srinagar: National Conference has lashed out at PDP MP Muzaffar Hussain Baig for trying to fabricate lies and distort facts to hide his disastrous tenure as the Ex-Finance Minister of the State. It was Muzaffar Baig who drowned the State into financial chaos and instability by allowing an open loot and plunder of public coffers by known corrupt elements within the PDP. Baig was also instrumental in mismanaging the finances of the State and leaving the State submerged in debt and fiscal paralysis at the end of the PDP tenure. He is the last person who should have the audacity to talk about empty coffers, NC Additional General Secretary Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal has said.
According to a statement, Dr. Mustafa Kamal has said that Muzzaffar Hussain Baig’s most prominent identity remained that he was Jagmohan’s legal adviser at a time when Jagmohan was busy perpetrating genocide and wanton bloodshed in Kashmir. For being Jagmohan’s legal adviser and lieutenant and for supporting him at every step – morally and legally – in killing Kashmiris, Muzaffar Baig was awarded a piece of land at Kral Sangri by none other than Jagmohan. This was the fruit of betrayal that he earned by selling his conscience to one of Kashmir’s most notorious mass-murderers, Dr. Kamal said.
The NC Additional General Secretary said that Muzaffar Baig’s hypocritical remarks on Omar Abdullah’s commitment to spend on public-welfare programs reflected nothing but his guilt as Baig’s own tenure as Finance Minister of the State was riddled with policy paralysis, debt-financing, ineptitude and embezzlement and saw an absolute failure in spending on public needs and welfare. “Muzaffar Baig and Tariq Karra will both go down in the State’s history as the worst and most corrupt individuals to occupy the Finance Ministry in J&K. While Karra’s ignorance about matters of Public Finance coupled with his insatiable thirst for loot and plunder made his tenure remarkably mediocre, Baig during his tenure went above and beyond the call of duty to weaken the State financially and render a blow to its movement towards economic self-reliance”, Dr. Kamal said.
Dr. Mustafa Kamal said that Baig wanted to have the cake and eat it too by being in the PDP but constantly speaking against PDP behind closed doors and that his duality of political character was not a hidden secret ever since his tenure as Governor Jagmohan’s trusted adviser.
