Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party while standing in solidarity with the people of Gaza, Tuesday held a protest rally led by its senior leader and candidate for upcoming
legislative assembly elections for Khanyar constituency Muhammad Khurshid Aalam.
Reports said that scores of PDP workers led by Muhammad Khurshid Alam started a march from party head office located opposite Municipal Park. Chanting anti-Israel and anti-America slogans, the party leaders and workers marched along Polo View road. They were also carrying banners and placards with pro-Gaza and anti-Israel messages written on them.
Eyewitnesses said that the police did not allow PDP workers to proceed towards clock tower and stopped them near Regal Chowk. A large contingent of police had been deployed near Regal Chowk to stop the swelling march.
PDP leaders and the workers torched the flags of Israel and termed it as the biggest enemy of humanity. Muhammad Khurshid Alam told reporters that it is the duty of the Arab countries and human rights organisaitons to take Israel to the World Court of Justice and to impose strict boycott of Israel until it is forced to see reason, stops aggression and withdraws from occupied territories. The siege of Gaza by Israel for the last many years have resulted in the deaths of many including innocent women and children. Our party urge upon the Government of India to use its influence to stop Israel from killing innocent people mostly women and children, Alam said.
Besides, Muhammad Khurshid Alam, other party leaders including Zafar Iqbal Manhas and Muntazir Mohiuddin were also part of the procession.
