SRINAGAR: Minister for Forests, Ecological and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmad, today, visited Yatra base camp Baltal and took stock of the arrangements and facilities put in place for Amarnath ji yatries there. 1.15 lakh yatries had darshan of Shiv lingam at holy cave through Baltal route so far.
The Minister interacted with the yatries and received the feedback from them about the arrangements made by the Government at different location en route to holy cave. While expressing satisfaction over the facilities, the devotees appreciated the arrangements made for convenience of them at Baltal base camp and en route to holy cave.
The Minister was informed that 90 quintals of rice, 35 quintals of atta, 35 quintals of sugar, 4000 litres of k.oil and 2200 cooking gas cylinder are available in the stock. He was informed that forest department has stocked 1500 quintals of firewood while 1000 quintals have been dispatched to various stops en route to cave.
Meanwhile a spokesman said since Yatra 2010, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board has been providing an insurance cover of one lakh rupees against accidental death to every registered Yatri, from the date of the pilgrims entry into the J&K State and upto the date of his/ her exit.
CEO, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, informed that for Yatra 2014, Shrine Board has procured Group Accidental Insurance cover of Rs. one lakh per Yatri, including those who travel by helicopter. In order to expeditiously process the Insurance cases, the CEO has once again asked all the Deputy Commissioners to immediately furnish details of the registered Yatris who lose their lives on account of accidents, natural or man made, within their jurisdictions, to enable the Shrine Board to promptly process their insurance cases.
