SRINAGAR: A middle-aged widower in Rajouri has killed his second wife within two weeks of marriage, GNS has reported, quoting unnamed police officials. Wazarat Iqbal, 45, had married a girl half his age, Kousar, few years after the death of his first wife who had borne four children. Kousar was Monday found slaughtered in a maize field, few paces down her home. “The bride was killed by her husband for allegedly not allowing physical relations and threatening him to break the marriage. She did not want to rear his children,” the GNS report claimed.
Police said the accused Wazarat Iqbal ,45, has confessed to have killed his wifeKouser Begum ,22, by slitting her throat near the maize field at village Nainsukh Aiti in Rajouri district on July 7.
Wazarat entered into his second marriage with the girl hailing from Kallar village. Just within 13 days, the girl who was about half of the age of Wazarat, was done to death, for the reason not accepting Wazarat as her husband, police said.
The accused during interrogation, according to police , has revealed that Kousar was not happy with the marriage and his children. She used to threaten him to break the marriage and go back to her parental home at Kallar. Even she did not allow him to develop physical relations like husband-wife, police said.
As Wazarat was frustrated with the behavior of his wife, police said, he decided to get rid of her and planned the murder.
The police investigation suggests that for patch-up Kousers brother and cousin had also come to his house on July 6 evening. Frustrated with the behavior of her wife again at that night, he decided to kill her, police said.
During wee hours he took knife from the kitchen and took her wife to nearby field on the pretext of taking bath to a nearby well and slit her throat there, returned to his room and slept.
His mother noticed Kousar lying murdered and raised alarm, police said. He also along with her brothers went to the spot. Later, police was informed.
SSP Rajouri Mubassar Latiffi said that SHO Rajouri, Yash Paul Jamwal managed to solve the blind murder case within 24 hours with most professional manner and arrested the accused.
The weapon of offence was also recovered at the instance of accused. He had buried it in the field near the spot.
The police said that the murdered woman’s brothers had no role in the case and they had gone there after learning about the strained relations between husband- wife and they tried to forge a patch-up but failed to do so.
