SRINAGAR: The death of a woman sparked protest at District Hospital Pulwama while the protesters alleged that the mother of three died due to the negligence by the doctors.
Muhammad Ashraf, husband of the deceased Shezada Banoo told reporters that his wife was admitted in the District hospital Pulwama after she complained of pain around the pelvic area. The doctors attending her informed us that her ovary needed removal as it had damaged. The Gynecologist Dr Hafiza operated upon her and removed her ovary. Soon after the operation, my wife developed pain again and the doctors in the hospital advised us to shift the patient to SMHS hospital Srinagar, Ashraf said adding that his wife breathed her last after reaching Srinagar hospital.
The protestors demanded stern punishment to the erring and negligent doctor. Medical Superintendent District Hospital Pulwama Dr Saleem said a probe had been ordered into the matter and if proven, action would be initiated against the erring doctors. He however said that initial investigation has revealed that the woman died of cardiac arrest.
