SRINAGAR: Sopore witnessed tough curfew for the third consecutive day on Wednesday as angry youth mounted resistance against state forces during brief pauses in the security cordon. Sub Divisional Magistrate Sopore Khurshid Ahmed Shah said that the authorities had no intention to impose curfew again provided the situation remained normal and under control.
Meanwhile, during relaxation hours stray stone-pelting incidents were reported from Hathishah Mohalla, Ningli area, and on Sopore-Bandipora road. There was heavy stone-peling going on at main chowk Sopore when this report was being filed. Eyewitnesses said that even after the relaxation in curfew, government forces restricted the movement of people in Chanakohan area and sealed the bridge there.

District Magistrate, Baramulla, Farooq Ahmed Lone, who has been appointed enquiry officer into the killing of a civilian at Sopore has notified that any person having any knowledge about the firing incident past monday can depose before him from June 26 to June 30, 2014 2 p.m onwards in his office at Baramulla. According to a notice, issued today, the depositions can be made orally or in the form of written affidavits. It may be recalled the Government constituted an enquiry committee comprising District Magistrate Baramulla to ascertain the factual position with respect to the causes and circumstances of the firing incident that took place in Krankshivan, Sopore on June 23, 2014 leading to the death of one civilian, Arshad Ahmad Shah S/O Abdul Aziz Shah R/O Naseem Bagh, Sopore and injuries to four other persons.
