SRINAGAR: Minister of State for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Nazir Ahmed Gurezi has asked the NHPC Limited to start immediate works under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities for the development of village Wanpora in Tehsil Gurez as model village.
Chairing a high level meeting with the officers of Power Development Department (PDD), Revenue, NHPC Limited, Forest, Agriculture, BEACON convened to review the pace of progress of works undertaken by different agencies for the development of the areas effected due to construction of the Kishan-Ganga Hydle Power Project here today.
The Minister asked the authorities of NHPC to take up beautification, de- silting of irrigation khuls, installation of street lights and construction of paths in Wanpora village on war-footing basis. ´´short period of working season of the year has left said the Minister, adding the need is to speed up the pace of work on all ongoing projects. He stressed them for judicious use and standard material.
While discussing the works undertaken by the forest department in the area, the Minister directed the concerned officers to enhance allocation of gas chullas being provided to the beneficiaries by the Soil Conservation Department. while discussing the renovation of roads, Gurezi asked NHPC Limited to coordinate with BEACON authority and start construction and macadamization of Budwan-Dawar and Kanzalwan link road. He directed them for construction of snow sheds from Booth-Bungalow to Peerbaba at Razdan Top.
Discussing the issues related to agriculture, it was informed that a project of Rs. 28 lakh each has been framed for Rajmash and Honey Bee projects in the first instalment. The Minister directed the Chief Agriculture Officer Bandipora to survey the areas and identify beneficiaries within a weeks time. He also asked them to start work on these projects immediately.
The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary PDD, A. K. Mehta, Commissioner Secretary Revenue, Vinod Koul, District Development Commissioner Bandipora, Dr. Shah Faisal, Conservator of Forest, Farooq Geelani, Chief Engineer NHPC Limited, Khalid Omar, Cdr.32TF BEACON Col. Muralin Dharan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, N. A. Baba, Manager NHPC Limited Manmeet Singh, SDM, Gurez Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Shah and other officers of various departments.
