Sopore: Authorities Tuesday said that it was an uphill task for them to identify the guilty policeman, who could be responsible for the death of Sopore youth Arshid Ahmed Shah. No one from the government forces is ready to admit their fault. Unfortunately no CCTV cameras had been installed on the spot of incident, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sopore, Khurshid Ahmed Shah said adding that he had directed all the security agencies to come forward and identify the person who shot at protestors.
He said that eyewitnesses can help the authorities to identify the guilty cop but, unfortunately, no one is will to cooperate and come forward. We are seeking the assistance and cooperation from the officials of the different security agencies and it will take some time to get the guilty cop identified, he said adding the job is difficult but not impossible.
SDM Sopore further said that the district authorities had a meeting with the security agencies that was attended by police, CRPF and Army officials. Authorities during the meeting snubbed these officials and directed them to refrain from violating human rights, he said.
Khurshid Ahmed Shah said that he has recommended to Deputy Commissioner Baramulla to provide an ex-gratia of Rs one lakh in favour of the family of the victim.
