This is apropos of Kuldip Nayars article (Kashmir Observer June 17) titled Saffron back too soon in India.
The demand by the incoming BJP government to review Article 370 shouldnt be seen as anti-Muslim rhetoric. In fact it comes from a faction of people who are genuinely interested in the welfare of the people of Kashmir.
The question to ask is that how has the application of Article 370 helped Kashmir. Right now, as things stand, the environment is not conducive to private investment in Kashmir. The economy is in bad shape and unemployment in the state is high. As for those who believe that an independent Kashmir is feasible, clearly they have not realised that Pakistan, India or even China will not let it be independent.
