TRAL: “He was neither a stone thrower nor a militant. My son was pursuing his post graduation in Kashmiri language. Police would often summon him to the police station for one or the other pretext. They once seized his laptop that he loved. He was literally forced to pick up the gun,” says Shahzada Bano, mother of the 23-year-old militant Tariq Ahmad, who was among three killed during a Police-Army raid late Thursday evening at Buchoo village of this township in South Kashmir.
Hailing from Laribal, Shehzada says she had tried hard to dissuade him from taking to arms but Tariq joined militant ranks last year. Father of another slain militant Adil Ahmed Shah aka Haroon, said he was trying to convince his son ever since his son joined militancy in April 2012, he continued to bring his son back from militant life but failed even as he met with him three times. I had three meetings with my son. I dont blame anyone. He was happy to be a militant, Abdul Ahad Shah said.
Expressing similar views, Bashir Ahmed Mir, father of another slain militant Adil Mir resident of Dadsara Tral, said his son was fascinated by militant leaders and wanted to join militancy. I lost my two sons in three years. My elder son Nayeem Ahmed Mir alias Gaznavi was a B.Tech student who lost his life in Dudhkalan encounter with Indian Army on March 3, 2010. His death instigated Adil to join militancy, he said. (Current News Service)
