TRAL: At least three militants were killed in a fierce gunfight between government forces and local militants at Buchoo area of Tral town in Pulwama district on Thursday, a Police spokesman claimed. The government forces fired upon a group of militants when they were on a move from Buchoo to Laidyar, the spokesman added.
Sources said that police station Awantipora received inputs that a group of militants are supposed to move from Buchoo to Laidyar, Army personnel from 3 RR and other paramilitary personnel laid an ambush near Buchoo. Sources added that after spotting the militants, the government forces targeted them which resulted in a fierce encounter. The encounter lasted for half an hour. Government forces pressed chopper into service to trace the militants.
Reports said that during the encounter three militants were killed. Government forces launched a massive search operation in the area to trace the other militants who according to sources managed to fled from the spot.
A police official confirmed that three militants were killed during the encounter. We have shifted the bodies to police station Awantipora. He identified the three slain militants as Adil Bashir Mir resident of Dadasara Tral, Adil Shah of Rathsana and Tariq Ahmed Parrey resident of Laribal Tral.
Meanwhile the banned militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen has paid tributes to the three slain militants who were killed in an encounter at Tral. Newsgathering agency KNS quoting a telephonic statement by Baleeg-u-Din, operational commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, said Three militants Adil Ahmad alias Sarfaraz, Adil Ahmad Shah alias Haroon Baie and Tariq Ahmad Mir alias Hamza Baie were affiliated with Hizb were martyred at Tral.
He said that UJC cheif and Hizb supreme commander Syed Sallauhdin, deputy supreme commander Saifullah Khalid and operational chief commander and command council top leaders have paid tributes to all the three martyrs. The UJC leadership resolved that martyrs blood will not be allowed to go waste, Baleeg-u-Din said.
