Srinagar: Apex trade body, the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry Wednesday held an interactive meeting with Dr. Aditya Puri, Managing Director and CEO of HDFC Bank. The meet was also attended by Navin Puri, Country Head, Ravi Narayanan, Branch Banking Head and Officials Of HDFC Bank at a local hotel in Srinagar.
KCCI in a statement issued here said that the delegation apprised Dr. Aditya Puri about the financial requirements of people associated with handicrafts.
The artisans constitute one of the largest sections of the society and these people have to face lot of problems owing to least avenues of financial assistance being made available to them, the KCCI statement said.
The HDFC CEO was given a detailed brief about the difficulties faced by this sector because of under financing though there were several schemes specially designed for the upliftment of the artisan, the KCCI statement said.
Dr. Puri accepted the chamber demand and assured of liberal financing by HDFC for Handicrafts sector which includes Dastkar finance as well, the statement said.
The trade body also raised several issues related to exports saying that the documents for export related activities are being processed at Ludhiana causing distress to the exporters.
The HDFC top boss issued instructions on spot for starting the process of export documents at Srinagar forthwith, the statement added.
The delegation also raised several issues including revival of sick units with the HDFC chief.
It was agreed by the Managing Director HDFC bank that those of the sick units which are otherwise identified technically viable will be considered by the HDFC Bank for financing as a new venture, the statement said, adding that the KCCI suggestion for the need of extending financing for Tourism Sector was also taken seriously, the statement added.
