SRINAGAR: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Monday emphasised the need of making the recently constituted Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (JKMSCL) fully functional to render its responsibilities meticulously for the public good.
The Chief Minister said that till the time Corporation takes over the procurement task fully, the concerned Medical and Health Departments should ensure availability and supply of medicines and equipments as per the prevailing practice so that there is not any short coming on this count in the health institutions.
Chairing the 2nd meeting of the JKMSCL here this morning, the Chief Minister received brief of the decisions taken in the last Board meeting, the status report and various other aspects of the functioning and strengthening of the Corporation.
The Minister for Health and Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Principal Secretary, Planning and Development, B. R. Sharma, Commissioner Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Gazzanfar Hussain, Director ISM, Directors of Health from Kashmir and Jammu, Principals of Government Medical Colleges, Principals of Dental Colleges, Managing Director, JKMSC, Sheetal Nanda and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
In a power point presentation, Ms. Nanda explained the agenda points and briefed the Board about the functioning of the Corporation and its programme to carry on its fundamental responsibility of procurement of standard medicines and equipments for the health institutions.
The Board took various decisions on the constitution of sub-committees pertaining of different subjects besides on the proposals put forth in the meeting by the MD for streamlining the working of the Corporation.
