Srinagar: Moderate rainfall in parts of Valley brought a respite from the scorching heat which witnessed temperatures soaring beyond 30 degree Celsius.
The afternoon rainfall, resulting in a dip in temperature by several notches, brought relief from the heat wave conditions prevalent for past two weeks.
Srinagar, which recorded a maximum of 33.9 degrees Celsius on June 15, received mild rainfall as a result temperatures dipped giving relief to the people.
Director MET department Sonam Lotus said that rain or thundershowers will likely to occur in different parts of Kashmir Valley as well as in some parts of Jammu division.
In coming few days Kashmir valley may witness mild rainfall during afternoon hours. In coming two to three days, the day temperature will remain static and it will not cross over 30 degree Celsius, he said.
He attributed this sudden change in weather to the prevailing western disturbances in areas across the north Indian subcontinent.
Western disturbances would move east-northeastwards over the western Himalayan region during the next 72 hours and may cause more rain fall in the region, he said.
