SRINAGAR: A meeting of the Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held under the Chairmanship of MLA Advocate Abdul Haq Khan here Monday.
Threadbare discussion was held on various issues besides examining the Action Taken Reports submitted by the Revenue department in respect of their Audit Para.
Legislators, Rafi Ahmed Mir, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, Jehangir Hussain Mir and Dr. Shanaz Ganai also attended the meeting and discussed in detailed the implementation of Roshni Act in the State since its adoption and stressed upon the revenue authorities to furnish Tehsil wise information with regard to the applications received and disposed off.
The Committee also asked them to furnish the details about the amount of revenue realized on this account so far.
The representatives of the revenue department assured the committee that they will be furnish a detailed information on the implementation of the scheme to the committee for its perusal and will be ready to take any queries from them during course of next meeting to be fixed by the Committee.
The Principal Accountant General, J&K sought clarification over the contravention between the provisions made under the Act by the Legislators and the Rules notified by the Government in exercise of powers vested under the Act. The Secretary, Revenue assured that they will be clarifying everything during the course of next meeting with the participation of the Law Secretary and the Finance department as well.
Among others, Financial Commissioner, Revenue, Dr. Arun Kumar, Commissioner Secretary, Revenue, all District Development Commissioners of the Valley and other officers besides Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
