Srinagar: Two persons died, while several others were injured when a passenger bus plunged into a deep gorge near Bagwa area of the mountainous Doda district.
Reports said the injured were airlifted to the Srinagar’s SKIMS where they are being treated for critical injuries. two passengers died on spot. They added that some of the injured were airlifted to Srinagar. Meanwhile a police spokesperson said at least one person died while thirteen others were injured in different road accidents across the valley.
A government spokesman said the legislator from Doda Abdul Majid Wani visited District Hospital Doda and oversaw the rescue operation. The Mini-Bus bearing Registration No. JK11-1169 was on way from Doda to Bhagwah and skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge near Balwas in Bhagwah Block of District Doda and left two passengers dead and more than twenty others injured. The deceased were Ghulam Nabi Naik of Kastigarh and his young nephew Muhammad Aamir . Naik was affiliated with the state’s larges religio-political organization Jama’a-e-Islami.
JeI spokesperson Zahid Ali in a statement alleged that both passengers died due medical negligence at the district hospital. ” There is 25-bed hospital in Bhagwa area. But when the injured were removed to this hospital no doctor or paramedic was present. We condemn the official apathy even toward the critical healthcare,” a Jama’at statement said Monday.
Quoting locals, the statement further alleged that the minibus ferrying passengers had already been officially declared unsafe but the authorities never bothered to check who was plying what on those risky roads of Doda.
An official handout said Majid Wani along with District Development Commissioner, Doda Mubarak Singh and SSP Doda M.S Chouhan immediately rushed to District Hospital Doda to supervise the ongoing treatment being provided to the injured.
Those who were critically injured were identified as Zia-Ul-Haq S/o Khalid Batt R/o Doda, Shahid Hussain S/o Ab. Queem R/o Kotal, Javaid Ahmed S/o Gh. Qadir Butt R/o Kuddhar, Kissar Singh S/o Omkar Singh R/o Manjmi , Nasir Majeed S/o Mohd. Amin R/o Doda.
Those who suffered minor injuries and were admitted to District Hospital Doda are, Sheenu Faraha D/o Tasadiq Kelam R/o Akramabad Doda, Ranjeet Singh S/o Bharat Singh R/o Pul Doda, Mohd. Amin S/o Gul Mohd. R/o Menchar Bhagwah, Mohd. Kafayat S/o Mohd Sharief R/o Akramabad Doda, Muzamil Khan S/o Khushi Mohd. R/o Akramabad, Amit Singh S/o Rajesh Singh R/o Chulas Bhagwah, Sansari Devi W/o Rajesh R/o Chulas Bhagwah, Kamal Singh S/o Prem Singh R/o Gaddi Dessa, Shokena D/o Gh. Mohd. Parray R/o Menchar , Muneera Begum W/o Gh. Mohd. R/o Menchar, Ashiq Alahi S/o Abdul Hamid R/o Gurmul, Muneera Begum W/o Mohd. Amin R/o Kuddhar, Reviti Raman S/o Jagat Singh R/o Kanhal, Mohd. Yasoof S/o Gh. Ahmed Batt R/o Kastigarh, Taseen Banoo D/o Mohd Iqbal R/o Kuddhar and Rakesh Kumar Gupta S/o Hans Raj Gupta R/o Doda.
Meanwhile a police spokesman said a three-wheeler load carrier bearing registration number JK01Q-5043 driven by Aijaz Ahmad Rather son of Ghulam Nabi resident of Gutlibagh hit and injured a pedestrian Tahir Ahmad Khan son of Mohammad Akbar resident of Hedar Maidan Gutlibagh at Gutlibagh, Ganderbal. The injured was shifted to SKIMS Soura, Srinagar for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries. Police has registered a case in this regard.
A Tavera vehicle bearing registration number JK13/9516 and a Santro car bearing registration number JK01J/623 collided at KP Road, Anantnag near Bumzoo Shrine, in the jurisdiction of Police Station Mattan resulting in minor injuries to seven passengers. All the injured were shifted to hospital for treatment. Police has registered a case in this regard.
In another accident, a Tavera vehicle bearing registration number JK03C-7596 collided with a passenger bus bearing registration number JK02A-2807 on National highway at Galander, in the jurisdiction of Police Station Pampore. In this accident four passengers were injured. All the injured were shifted to Sub District Hospital, Pampore for treatment. Police has registered a case in this regard.
In another road accident, a Tractor bearing chassis number 2284826 fell in a nallah near Wangam resulting in injuries to Zubair Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohammad Ayaz resident of Wangam, Kulgam. The injured were shifted to Sub District Hospital, Kulgam for treatment. Police has registered a case in this regard.
A motorcyclist Syed Altaf Hussain son of Syed Mohammad Iqbal resident of Laderwan Awoora was injured when he fell from his bike bearing registration number JK09/4956 at Tikker, in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kupwara. The injured was shifted to Sub District Hospital, Kupwara for treatment, where from he was shifted to SKIMS Soura, Srinagar for treatment. Police has registered a case in this regard.
