Baramulla: The Committee constituted by Directorate of Health Services to probe the death of a pregnant woman has exonerated all the doctors and reinstated Block Medical Officer Sub-District Hospital Pattan who was suspended for allegedly showing negligence while treating a pregnant woman in May last month.
Pertinently, on May 27 last month, after the death of a pregnant woman, Gulshana Banoo, wife of Muhammad Sharafat Khan of Zangam Pattan, the protestors had ransacked the hospital equipments and smashed the window panes of Sub District Hospital Pattan in North Kashmirs Baramulla district. The protestors had alleged that Gulshana died due to negligence of the doctors. To pacify the protestors, the DHSK had constituted a committee to probe the death and had suspended Block Medical Officer Dr Hanseena.
Assistant Director Health Dr Bashir Malik said that the probe committee that was headed by Chief Medical Officer Baramulla, Dr Ashiq Hussain has submitted his report and the committee have exonerated Dr Gul Afroza and Dr Shugufta. He said that report submitted by CMO has maintained that the pregnant woman had died due to the low blood pressure.
The report has absolved all the doctors and on the basis of this report we have reinstated BMO Sub District Hospital Pattan but DHSK has transferred both the lady doctors Dr Gul Afroza and Dr Shugufta from SDH Pattan, Dr Malik said.
Meanwhile, family members of the deceased woman have alleged that these doctors were shielded in the garb of probe committee. They questioned that if the doctors were not involved in the death of Gulshana Bano then why suddenly they have been transferred from the hospital.
The committee was constituted by DHSK to hoodwink the protestors. This probe like other probes was mere an eye wash and we were sure that the accused would be exonerated, the father of deceased woman Abdul Ahad Bhat said. (CNS)
