SrinagarA day after National Conference president and former chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir said concerted attempt is under process to change the demographic character of the state, the Hurriyat Conference headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani termed his remarks a political gimmick.
Due to defeat in recent parliamentary polls, they are out of frustration. They want to avoid defeat in Assembly elections. It is nothing but a political gimmick of Farooq Abdullah, the Hurriyat spokesman, Ayaz Akbar, said on Thursday.
Interestingly, Geelani had made similar remarks while adessing the people after breaking police cordon at his Hyderpora residence on Wednesday.
Akbar said Farooq Abdullah is a non-serious on every issue and he cant be trusted. He is the same person who once said Azad Kashmir should be bombed. He is a joker rather than a politician, he said, adding none of his remark is trustworthy or credible before us.
From the day one we have been saying that India wants to change the demography of Kashmir. India is on a long term agenda of changing majority into minority. We will oppose by tooth and nail, he said, adding we will try to create a national consensus over this issue and we will also try to create a consensus with all the pro-freedom parties over the issue.
