SRINAGAR: The family of Rasik Shabir, 16, who died in an accident on May 5, have termed largely false and inaccurate the news report published in this newspaper on May 6. The report, which used inputs from facebook, suggested that the teenager was a motorcycle enthusiast and had received in gift a Bajaj Pulsar sports bike at an early stage of his childhood. Besides facebook, the information carried in the news report was acquired from the acquaintances of the deceased.
“After a quick inquiry we found certain inaccuracies in the report. The error is not deliberate because the report was motivated by the larger concern for the society. The information used, however, should have been corroborated by the family response, which unfortunately has not happened. We regret the erroneous part of the report which has hurt the family’s sentiments,” said a management official from Kashmir Observer.
Pertinently, Rasik Shabir, 16, died in a road crash while on way back from his tutorial at Safa Kadal on May 5.
