SRINAGAR: Seven persons, including two policemen were injured due to bursting of sumo vehicle engine in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday.
A police official said that seven persons received injuries in the incident that took place at Anantnag town today morning.
He said that all the injured were passersby when the engine of vehicle bearing registration number JK03-9668 burst out suddenly.
The injured persons have been identified as Assistant Sub Inspector ASI of police Ghulam Mohammad, Constable Hilal Ahmad and five civilians Gulam Qadir Wagay of Khanabal, Nizar Ahmad Sofi his son Umer Sofi, Sajad Ahmad Dar both residents of Pushwar and Mohammad Sultan Bhat of Anzullah.
While all the injured were rushed to hospital, police is investigating the cause of incident, he added. An eyewitness said that the sound of bursting of the vehicle engine created panic among the people. He said that the shopkeepers, who mistook it bomb blast, were seen fleeing towards the safer areas.
Meanwhile, the team of police experts rushed to the area and taken the samples from the spot for investigations, the eyewitness added. (GNS
