PESHAWAR: To mark the World Immunisation Week Campaign, the Ministry of National Health Services in Pakistan is carrying out a nationwide vaccination drive against measles to protect children under 10 years old.
However, 7 children have tragically died in different districts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province during the ongoing 12-day campaign after being administered the anti-measles vaccine. This apart from the pre-existing fear of health workers being foreign spies is contributing to the rising fear amongst Pakistanis of immunisation.
DawnNews reports that two of the latest deaths were reported on Sunday, 1 June in Charsadda district of KP.
Previously, two children were killed in Charsadda and three deaths were reported from Peshawar due to the reaction of the anti-measles vaccine.
Meanwhile, examiner.com a US-based online network reports that the recent revelation from the US government, admitting to covert operations under the guise of vaccination programs especially in the Middle East region came across like an episode crafted for Netflix. It says an official statement from the White House was reported on Tuesday, May 27, which revealed a plot to go after terrorists so the United States could confirm, lock in, and easily take out their intended target.
This type of operation had been previously reported in 2011 by the New York Times, it says. In order for the U.S. to solidify Osama bin Laden’s whereabouts, obtaining his DNA was crucial to target his exact location. However, the operation had been ongoing, after bin Ladens death. In fact, the International Committee of the Fourth International (ICFI) reported that 50 health care workers were killed in revenge of the CIA using faux vaccines in Pakistan. But others saw this operation more as a detriment to global health. About 13 U.S. health care schools also sent letters to the White House asking that such operations cease, according to Natural News.
Such revelations are mainly responsible for the mounting fear of vaccinations as well as health workers in Pakistan today.
‘Examiner’ writes, after knowledge of the program becoming public, anti-U.S. militants saw health care workers as spies for the U.S., as the Star Tribune reported. Sadly, multiple health care workers were shot and killed in 2012 while they were working on the Polio Eradication Initiative in Pakistan, and the countries efforts came to a halt.
It was reported by multiple health school officials that if the CIA vaccine operations did not stop , their operations would continue to jeopardise vaccination efforts; since the death of the health care workers, Pakistan, it says had stopped working with world health efforts. As a result, the country ranked highest for growing cases of Polio, as reported by the World Health Organisation. According to the Star Tribune on May 20, Pakistans Health Ministry announced that it would require that all travellers leaving the country to get a polio vaccination.
However, despite the announcement of the American secret service agency, the recent deaths during the anti-measles campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province is only likely to exacerbate the peoples resistance to immunisation efforts in Pakistan, in general.
