Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has recovered 895 stolen gas cylinders in south Kashmirs Shopian district.
A police official said that on 27th May, last month, they received a complaint that some 1360 gas cylinders have been stolen away with three trucks and 60 gas stoves from the godown of Mir Gas Agency at Shirmal by some thieves.
Two persons were nominated as alleged accused and an FIR 118/14 was registered and investigations were taken up, the official said, adding during investigations 895 stolen gas cylinders were recovered and one alleged accused Ghulam Muhammad Mir, son of Muhammad Amin Mir was arrested.
The police official said that few gas stoves were also recovered and more recoveries and arrests are expected in the future.
He, however, said that it seems an dispute on the proprietor rights on said gas agency. Concerned we are investigating every aspect and no irregularities will b allowed what so ever would be, he added.
