Srinagar: J&K Bank today felicitated its football team for their fine performance during the season 2013-14.
Chairman and CEO Mushtaq Ahmad awarded a cheque of Rupees Two Lac Fifty Thousand to the team in presence of the banks Executive President and Chairman Sports Board Abdul Hamid Banday in a function held here at Corporate Headquarters. Secretary Sports Board Shaukat Ahmad Khanyari and Team Manager Majid Dar were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Mushtaq Ahmad said, It is appreciable that the team has really performed very well during the last year. However, the real challenge is to sustain the winning momentum while improving upon the spirit of team building.
Wishing them all the best for their future contests, he said, We should always remember that spirit of winning is more important than winning itself. Moreover, discipline and sportsmanship has to be maintained in all situations.
He congratulated the Coaches Manzoor Ahmad and Farooq Ahmad for the efforts they put in to improve the performance of team.
Earlier, Abdul Hamid Banday apprised the Chairman about the football team and its performance for the last year.
Appreciating the teams performance, he said that the decisions taken by the board for betterment of the team had succeeded.
He said, Equipped with better training and discipline, the team is looking forward to play in the upcoming Kashmir Invitational Gold Cup followed by the Annual Football League and State Football Championship.
Notably, eight of the banks players represented the J&K State Football Team in Santosh Trophy 2014. Meanwhile, during the season 2013-14 the bank won 4th All India Sher-i-Kashmir Gold Cup Jammu (Dec 2013), All India Christmas Gold Cup Jammu (Jan 2014), 2nd Christmas Soccer Championship Jammu (Feb 2014). The bank was runners-up in State Football Championship Srinagar (June 2013), J&K Annual Football League Srinagar (Nov 2013), 4th All India Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup Jammu (Feb 2014).
