The military exercises code-named Beit ul-Muqaddas 26 started on Friday with the test-firing of indigenous Nazeat and Fajr (Dawn) 5 missiles.
On the second day of the maneuvers on Saturday, infantry, mechanized, armored and artillery units backed by the Islamic Republic of Iran Army Aviation conducted pre-planned operations aimed at destroying mock enemy targets.
Deputy commander of the Iranian Armys Ground Forces for operations, Brigadier General Ali Mehrabi, described the second phase of the drills as totally successful.
Mehrabi added that the Iranian Armys Ground Forces managed to achieve all pre-planned objectives in the drills.
According to the commander, the second stage of the drill covered an area of 180 square kilometers due to the type and vastness of the operations.
Mehrabi said the Ground Forces also used different types of drones, including Mohajer (Immigrant) and Sepehr (Sky) unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as reconnaissance and combat helicopters to improve the operational capability of the drills.
The Beit ul-Muqaddas 26 military drills mark the anniversary of the liberation of the southwestern city of Khorramshahr during the eight-year imposed war with Iraq.
In recent years, Iran has made major breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.
