Srinagar: Reacting to the statement of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that 2010 killings will be brought under the ambit of Commission of Inquiry (COI), the parents of youth killed during the summer unrest of 2010 unanimously questioned the timing of Omars statement.
Mohammad Ashraf Matoo, father of Tufial Matoo who was killed in 2010 stated that he has been perusing the case from the last four years and that no justice has been given to him till date. Why now the inquiry is being started? Where was Omar from the last four years. It must be asked to him that who compelled Omar to start the inquiry now. He time and again in the past tried to hush-up the case but failed.
Matoo also accused Omar of being unable to see, hear and speak for the parents of the children who lost their lives during the unrest of 2010. He is speaking al this because the boat of NC is sinking now. We dont care who wins and losses. We just want justice to be delivered. If Omar is sincere let him bring the culprits to book otherwise, the parents of all those who have lost their children are depressed and suffering from various metal diseases.
Abdul Qayoom, father of slain Umar Qayoom said that from the last four years he his moving from pillar to post just to register an FIR against the killing of his son on August 25, 2010. Even the government failed to register an FIR, let alone punishing the guilty. He stated that he for several times have requested Omar Abdullah via faxes- asking him to order the registration of FIR in his sons killing but couldn’t get any answer. I even met Mustafa Kamal, he assured help but nothing was done.
Farooq Ahmad, father of slain Zahid Farooq, a youth killed in Nishat area in 2010 said that the government admitted his case and ordered probe. From the last four years, when we are fighting for justice and the same is being delayed, how come others could get it. I want to ask Omar Abdullah where you were from the last four years.
