Srinagar: National Conference (NC) paid glorious tributes to Late Mirwaiz Ghulam Nabi Hamdani on his 55th Death Anniversary, a party statement issued here said.
Recollecting the contributions of Mirwaiz Ghulam Nabi Hamdani to the people of Kashmir, Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Working President Omar Abdullah and NC General Secretary Advocate Sheikh Nazir Ahmed said that Mirwaiz Hamdani was a learned religious luminary and scholar who had been bestowed with spirituality and enlightenment and had contributed to the cause of Islam and political awakening of the people of this State.
The NC leaders said Mirwaiz Hamdani’s contributions and sacrifices in the quit Kashmir movement against the Dogra rulers would be mentioned in history in golden letters.
Mirwaiz Hamdani was incarcerated in various jails for his staunch and revolutionary views and ideology but never dithered from his stand.
The NC leaders said that Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah had close relations with the Mirwaiz-e-Hamdanis family and the family had stood by Sheikh Sahib through thick and thin.
