Srinagar, May 20 : Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in a road accident which took place at Digdol on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway this morning claiming precious human lives and injuring many.
In his condolence message, the Chief Minister conveyed his solidarity and sympathy to the bereaved families and prayed for peace to the departed souls. He also prayed for early recovery of the injured. The Chief Minister directed the concerned health authorities and district administration to provide all possible medical treatment and help to the injured.
Meanwhile, senior Congress Ghulam Nabi Azad expressed deep shock and grief over the Ramban accident. Talking to a news agency from Hyderabad, Azad expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mehbooba Mufti has expressed shock and profound grief over the tragic road accident on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway near Digdol in Ramban district and in Mendhar.
In a statement , she expressed her deep sorrow over the tragic loss of precious lives and conveyed her heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families. She also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident. Mehbooba urged the government to provide free of cost medical treatment to the injured persons and ex-gratia to the families of deceased.
Muhammad Yusuf Tarigami said in a statement that a house committee headed by him following mounting number of accidents in erstwhile Doda region and the National Highway in Jammu region had submitted a detailed report before the government but unfortunately the same is gathering dust.
The recommendations put forth by the committee headed by me have not been implemented sofar. This is unfortunate and utter callousness on part of the state administration which owes an explanation on the latest fatal road accident, Tarigami has said while expressing solidarity with the bereaved families.
Professor Saifuddin Soz, President Pradesh Congress Committee, has also expressed his deepest anguish over the tragic accident took place at Digdol Ramban during the intervening night of 19, 20 May 2014, in which 17 precious lives were lost and 32 persons were injured.
According to a statement , Prof. Soz termed this incident shocking, unfortunate and tragic and said this incident has dismayed him (Prof. Soz) enough. Prof. Soz while offering his condolences to bereaved families, sympathized with them.
Meanwhile, according to a statement , Ghulam Hassan Mir minister for agriculture, expressed deep shock and grief over the Ramban accident.
