Srinagar, May 20 : At a daylong deliberation held at Srinagar the representatives of Panchs and Sarpanchs of all parts of Jammu and Kashmir decided that since they have under the constitution contested elections on non political basis after securing above 70 to 80% votes from their respective areas. The people of the area have given them mandate for developmental oriented programs therefore no Panch and Sarpanch Should onwards be any office bearer of any political organization and maintain their non political character. They have decided that accordingly no Panch or Sarpanch will resign from his post.
According to a statement , in order to widen its reach to general public and communicate its pro developmental programs in right perspective to the people at large The All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference along with more than 30 thousand Panchs and Sarpanchs today associated itself with Kashmir Society. On this occasion Chairman Kashmir Society Khwaja Farooq Renzushah and Chairman All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference Mohammad Shafiq Mir and prominent representatives of Panchayat Conference including Ghulam Hassan Panzu, Aftab Beg, Bashir Ahmad Malik, Imtiyaz Beg and the representatives of all Jammu and Kashmir including Srinagar, Budgam, Shopian, Anantnag, South Kashmir, North Kashmir, Central Kashmir and Rajouri Pounch were present.
In the Conference the positive role of Panchs and Sarpanchs in serving the people of the area particularly in road sector, NREGA, rural sector, social welfare, health, education and housing sector were highlighted. While speaking on the occasion the chairman Kashmir Society Khwaja Renzushah advised all the Panchs and Sarpanchs to devote themselves exclusively for developmental purposes. Shafiq Ahmad Mir and all hundreds of speakers who delivered their speeches throughout the day expressed their concern for mounting of threat perceptions on Panchs and Sarpanchs for unknown reasons.
The speakers were of the opinion that its because of this institution being ignored by the concerned it has been made target as nobody wants to share their power with them and appease them by simple statements which receive negative reactions from other corners. They appealed all concerned that henceforth they should be treated completely non political and no Panch or Sarpanch should be considered member of any political organization. They also appealed all Panchs and Sarpanchs to adhere the non political character while serving in their respective areas by ensuring to execute the developmental works on non partisan bases so that no local rivalry is allowed they also decided that the forum shall not make any negative statement against any other political or non political forum or speak anything against any political entity whatsoever ideology he believes. The Panchs and Sarpanchs shall keep good relation with all who are able to provide key role in development of their areas and over all development of JK State, irrespective of any political thought or Ideology.
