SRINAGAR : As many as 388 food business establishments including Anganwari Centres and Mid Day Meals served in Government Primary and Middle Schools were inspected by Drug and Food Control Organization, Kashmir in various districts of Kashmir division.
During the drive, about 120 Kgs of rotten fruit and vegetables, 100 Kgs of sweets and confectionery, 20 Kgs of lentil seeds and 20 Kgs of traditional Kashmiri Snacks from open market were destroyed and 40 improvement notices were served to food business operators. Besides, 2 petty food manufacturing units in Anantnag district have been sealed by the squad for insanitary conditions and excessive colours being added to confectionery.
Moreover, the department has also lifted 18 samples of various categories of food items including spices, edible oil, beverages and confectionery for analysis purposes to ascertain its quality.
In case of any complaint with regard to food establishments, ICDS, Anganwari Centres and Mid Day Meals served in Middle and Primary Schools, the general public is requested to lodge complaint on the help line of the department of Drug and Food Control, Kashmir viz 0194-2495191.
