KANGAN: An employee of health department was suspended and arrested by police after he allegedly sexually assaulted a female patient in Trauma Hospital Kangan in Central Kashmirs Ganderbal district on Wednesday.
The female patient (name withheld) said that she went with the prescription of a doctor to a medical employee in Trauma Hospital Kangan who during supplying medicines to her made sexual advancements. I raised hue and cry and was saved by the attendants and doctors present there, she said.
Reports said that the said medical employee was thrashed by people and was dragged out from his chamber.
Confirming the incident, Medical Superintendent of the said hospital, Dr Qazi Javid said that the medical employee was placed under suspension with immediate effect. The evidences indicate that the said medical employee who works as an orderly tried to assault the female patient sexually. We have handed him over to police and a formal case has been registered against the accused, he said.
A police official said that they have arrested the accused and an FIR vide number 33/2014 under section 354 has been registered against him. He identified the accused as Abdul Majid Rather son of Abdul Kabir resident of Nunar Ganderbal.
