Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday arrested a youth and seized an autorikshaw carrying anti-election posters in north Kashmirs Bandipore district.
Official sources said that on a specific input police and Special Operation Group laid a check point in Bandipore and detained Abid Farooq Jan, resident of Qazipora in the district.
The youth was in an auto (JK05B 3146) and the auto was carrying election boycott posters of Hurriyat Conference headed by Syed Ali Geelani. We have detained him as well as seized anti lection material and auto, a source said.
Meanwhile, in central Kashmirs Ganderbal district, police arrested a youth after he was found tearing down the posters and flags of National Conference at Dhudarhama.
Official sources said that Fayaz Ahmad, son of Muhammad Ramzan, who is a resident of Dhudarhama was found bringing down NC flags and posters in the area and after which he was arrested by police. When police came to know, they arrested him, sources added.
Meanwhile, police have registered cases in both the in incidents and investigations have been taken up.
The Ganderbal district – which falls under Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency – is going for polls on April 30, while Bandipora – which falls under Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency – is going for polls on May 7. (GNS)
