SRINAGAR: Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) Friday threatened that employees would boycott the polling duty if government failed to protect their lives. President EJAC, Abdul Qayoom Wani said that an emergent session of EJAC was convened in which the death of the government teacher of Shopian Zia-ul-Haq wani was deeply regretted.
He alleged that government has failed to provide foolproof security to polling staff and are treating employees as slaves. State employees are the servants of the public and not the slaves of the Government. The employees are feeling insecure because of the recent killing in Shopian, he said.
During the session, it was regretted that despite being apolitical a employees are made scapegoat which wont be tolerated. EJAC alleged that at the end of the polling on Thursday, employees were left high and dry while some had to spend their night in open and had to face the wrath of stone throwing youth at Pulwama, Islamabad, Shopian and in other areas.
