TRAL/SHOPIAN: Amid Army deployment in South Kashmirs Tral town, people observed a complete shutdown against the detention of youth on Wednesday. Various relatives of Hizb active militants and some suspected persons were arrested by police soon after the killing of Congress Sarpanch, his son and the village headman on Monday evening.
All the shops, business establishments and schools remained shut while transport was off the roads. Eyewitnesses said that police on Thursday called two more youth to police station Awantipora for questioning. They have been identified as Adil Rafique son of Nazir Ahmed and Parvez Ahmed son of Muhammad Sultan Bhat both residents of Dadsara Tral.
Reports said that Army was seen patrolling in different parts of Tral town. Army jawans have been deployed on roads and in fields to restrict the movement of suspected militants. Meanwhile, Panchayati Raj Minister Ali Muhammad Sagar visited Batagund and Amlar hamlets to express his condolences to the bereaved families.
Security had been beefed up in the town in wake of the Ministers visit. Meanwhile, Shopian town observed shutdown for the consecutive second day against the arrest of some youth during nocturnal raids. Police said that the arrested youth are all known stone-pelters and they had been arrested only after their role in stone-pelting was established through different video clips.
