Budgam shuts against power outage
Budgam: Traders and shopkeepers in Central Kashmirs Budgam district observed a completed shutdown against the Government inaction to restore the electricity to the market. The protestors encircled the cavalcade the concerned MLA and did not allow him to proceed towards his residence.
Eyewitnesses said that all the traders and shopkeepers observed a shutdown in Budgam and staged protest against Power Development Department, District Administration and the Government. The traders alleged that there is no electricity from the past one month and nothing is being done to repair the damaged power transformer. They raised slogans against District Development Commissioner Budgam, NC MLA Aaga Roohullah and PDD.
Reports said that soon after the Friday prayers, traders took to streets and stopped the cavalcade of NC MLA. We encircled the vehicle in which the MLA was sitting and expressed over displeasure the he has failed to live up to the expectations of the people, one of the shopkeepers Shabir Ahmed said adding that the police intervention helped MLA to proceed towards his home.
The traders warned that if the electricity is not restored within a day, they will go on indefinite strike.
