SRINAGAR The Principal Accountant General (PAG)–Audit Jammu and Kashmir has ordered the commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education to go for rectification of wrong pay fixation and promotion accorded to Dr Shashi Gupta, principal Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu or otherwise it will direct the concerned treasury officer regulate further drawl of pay and recover the overpayment disbursed in her favour.
Top sources in Auditor Generals office said that the wrong pay fixation and promotion accorded to Dr Gupta has been effected in contravention to recommendation made by the Public Service Commission (PSC). Despite repeated reminders to the Commissioner Secretary Health and medical through various letters, the PAG office has observed that effective date of promotion of Dr Gupta as Assistant Professor has been altered from April 23, 1995 to April 23, 1994.
In its various letters bearing numbers SS-II/2013-14/931-934 dated November 14, 2013, SS-II 2013-14/1066 dated December 27, 2013 the Commissioner was asked to have the error rectified and send compliance report to PAG office, by issuing a corrigendum to the Government order, which has not been done sofar. The PAG had ordered that the wrongful promotion and subsequent promotions based on this unauthorized alteration need to be reversed and overpayment made to her needs to be recovered.
