SOG’s Farooq Khan likely to join BJP
JAMMU: BJPs Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will kick start Bharat Vijay Rallies Wednesday by addressing a rally in the city of temples after paying obeisance at Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.
During his rally, retired IPS officer Farooq Khan, who has been in the forefront of anti-militancy operations in Jammu and Kashmir, is likely to join BJP.
Modi will reach the military airport at Udhampur at 0900 hours from where he will be taken in a helicopter to Vaishno Devi Shrine.
At around 11:30 AM, he will be addressing a political rally at Hira Nagar, a part of Udhampur parliamentary seat.
This is the second rally being addressed by Modi in Jammu region. He had addressed a rally on December one last year during which he had stirred a controversy by demanding a dialogue on Article 370 which guarantees a special status to the state.
However, after he was challenged by state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for a discussion on Article 370, both BJP as well as Modi never raked up the issue again.
The Hira Nagar rally will be the first of the 185 Bharat Vijay Rallies Modi will address across the country.
The venue of Hira Nagar has already brought out differences within local BJP as one of the factions of the state unit of the party wanted the rally to be shifted to Udhampur while the rival group refused to shift the venue.
