Geelani appeals Red Cross, Amnesty international to take cognizance
SRINAGAR: Family of Rafiq Ahmad Shah, a youth languishing in the Tihar Jail Delhi, since 2005, has alleged that other jail inmates (mostly criminals) have attacked and injured Shah.
The family of Rafiq alleged that he, besides other inmates, were attacked inside Tihar jail and that no serious effort to prevent such incident has been taken by the authorities.
The family stated that the similar attacks were carried out against the detained Kashmiri youth in the past as well and but the state government has so far remained indifferent.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani while condemning the attack on Kashmiri detainees in Tihar jail stated that such acts shall not be tolerated at any cost. Criminals inside Tihar jail have been given a freehand to unleash terror on Kashmiri youth and International Red Cross and international human rights organizations must look into the matter, Geelani was quoted by KNS saying from Delhi.
There was no independent confirmation to the incident despite strenuous efforts by this newspaper.
