Srinagar: Kashmiri Pandit employees staying in Government quarters Monday staged a protest against the lack of accommodation facilities at Vessu area of Anantnag town.
Reports said that scores of Pandits who have returned to Valley alleged that government has not provided them suitable accommodation as it had promised and the community was suffering heavily on account of shrinking space.
How can a family put up in a single room. We are using the one-room quarter as kitchen, dining hall and bedroom and it is really problematic for us, said Vijay Koul adding, no drinking water and power facilities were available to them.
He said that they will block Srinagar-Jammu highway and will come on roads daily if spacious accommodation is not provided to them.
Pertinently, Government has provided accommodation facilities to all those Kashmiri Pandit Government employees who returned from Jammu relief camps to Kashmir Valley.
